I have 2 albinos that I bought as Bell Albinos last year. The male has the eclipse eye mutation, which would make him a valuable Bell. But I kind of suspect that one or both of these geckos is really a Tremper albino. Trempers are more common, especially to also have eclipse eyes.
In early August I noticed that the female was ovulating and so decided to breed her with the male to see if I got albinos or normals. If the offspring are albino, then the parents are the same type of albino. If the offspring are normals (not albino) then the parents are 2 different types of albino (e.i. Bell and Tremper).
She laid her first clutch (2 eggs) on August 29th, and today the first 2 hatched. They are both albinos.
I still don’t know if they are both Bells or Trempers. Although I suspect Trempers. I will need to cross the male with a known Tremper albino female that I have. If the offspring from that cross are all albino then I’ll know I have Tremper albinos.
I like how one of the hatchings has a stripe down its back. More interesting genetics.
